Blue Interiors

We want every item, in every shade, of every type of blue. And apparently we're not unusual — jewel tones are a key shade for interiors this year, and actually getting gloriously hard to avoid. From wall colours (hello Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue) to ceramics and plush velvet sofas — move over monochromists, blue is very probably the new you.

Indigo

Lane create covetable homeware just up the road in Nottingham. They’ve joined forces with London Cloth Company to create a range of products in two colours — indigo and un-dyed natural white cotton. Soften the boldness of the blue with natural fibres or pastel shades. Pictured is the throw from the collab.

Duck egg

A serious contender for the calmest of all the calming blues, the name Duck Egg might evoke thoughts of grannies and country cottage kitsch. But add it to a muted grey palette and it’s as fresh as it is modern. We’re big fans of Little Greene’sPale Wedgwood shade.

Midnight

The geometric pattern and metallic accents in this Wedgewood wallpaper (available fromTreadwells) contrast with the deep, moody midnight blue. Particularly suitable for creating dramatic living rooms and in larger spaces, keep it extra plush with dark drapes and patterned soft furnishings.

Cobalt

If you're not quite ready for the high levels of melodrama or bluesy commitment of midnight (above), ceramics are a good way to introduce a smattering of the colour. Denby's cool, classic Imperial Bluecollection is 25 years in the making, with vibrant cobalt and crisp white creating a timeless result.

Inky

We’d be hard pushed to declare it, but if you asked quietly for our pick of them all, our fave is this inky royal blue. Paired with our other favourite thing, a velvet sofa. This is theBlanca sofa from Att Pynta. Add minimal, white walls and some greenery to transform your space into a perfectly formed corner of Scandi heaven.
