My number one fail-safe method in choosing hotels to feature on the blog: do I want to live there? The answer for 11 Howardis 100% yes. Please can I move in? I won't be any trouble and the daily commute will be completely tolerable..
See? It'd totally be worth it.
11 Howard is a new boutique hotel in New York's cool SoHo district. It was formerly a post office that has been given a new lease of life thanks to Beyer Blinder Belle architects. But the covet-ability (I'm making that word happen) of 11 Howard for me is all thanks to interior designers Space Copenhagen.
Typical Danish design sits alongside a muted palette, with splashes of deep blue and blush. A variety of materials - stone, metal, wood and leather - give real texture to the bedrooms, without sensory overload. Instead the effect is one of chic calm - minimal but still warm and stylish without appearing to have tried too hard. In short, the essence of Danish style.
I won't name and shame the awful boutique hotel that I stayed at in NYC in April.. but just know I am kicking myself for not having discovered 11 Howard sooner. The only solution - to move in. I'm just packing my bags...
