It’s that time of year again when I’m desperately trying to spend as much time in the garden as possible to get it ready in time for summer. The recent wet weather means everything is shooting up in the garden and I’m pleased to see some success from bulbs we planted last year. We have lived in our home for just over two years now and we’ve put a lot of time into the garden, as it was an absolute state when we moved in. We created a terrace area, a path leading to the top of the garden, created the borders from nothing and basically laid a new lawn entirely.
It has come on in leaps and bounds but because the garden is fairly new, none of the plants are mature and there is still an awful lot of fence on display.
This summer I am going to stain the fence a dark blue/black to make a real statement. I'm excited for the depth and impact that stained wood is going to offer. I also love the stark contrast between the dark wood and verdant green. Even better, as well as creating a strong visual statement, the stain protects the wood and can be used on garden furniture.
Pinterest, as always, is fuelling providing ample inspiration for our own project.
What do you think? Might you experiment with a different colour stain in the garden?
